South Tipperary Development CLG is a community-focused organisation dedicated to promoting social inclusion, employment opportunities, and personal development. They work with individuals from diverse backgrounds, supporting them in gaining the skills and confidence needed to get back into the workplace or progress in their careers.

Multilingual Teams | The Challenge 

Many of STDC’s clients faced a significant psychological barrier when using English.

Even those with the technical skills to perform well in their chosen fields often struggled with spontaneous conversation, which could hold them back from fully engaging in interviews, workplace discussions, and networking opportunities.

One of the biggest challenges were that learners who were qualified accountants and doctors who were not working here in Ireland because of the language barrier. 

The Approach for English Learning

Everywhere English designed a 12-week intensive course for “Getting work in Ireland” to help learners get the confidence and skills they need to get work in their chosen industry in Ireland. We also supported them in overcoming this mental barrier by creating a safe and encouraging environment for language learning.

The 12 week course focused on small group sessions to promote interactivity and on building confidence, improving industry-specific fluency, and enabling clients to feel comfortable communicating in real-life work situations.

The Result

There was noticeable growth in confidence when speaking English in everyday and professional contexts and a stronger foundation for future career development.
